Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
A mexican celebration that dates back to an aztec tradition devoted to Mictecacihuatl, the God of the underworld.
Indoors the festival is celebrated by people building shrines for the departed. They fill tables with items that their loved ones were fond of, such as food, sweets, drink and photos.
In the streets people dress up us various creatures from the underworld, the skeleton is the biggest symbol and has various incarnations.
Due to the U.S’s relationship with Mexico, their is a bit of a gap in the media on Mexican traditions.
Hence why I’ve chosen this festival to an animation about. It should have a style thats pretty refreshing and different to what people may of seen before.
